What the sign says

The carriageway narrows, on both sides or just one. Passing may become impossible unless one of the two vehicles stops.

The exam trap

This sign does not settle priority, it announces. Only the priority-over-oncoming-traffic and give-way-to-oncoming-traffic signs do that.
