St Andrew's cross
Priority signsSign no. 3.22OSR art. 93
What the sign says
The cross marks the exact spot where the railway crosses the road. It states that the rail has absolute priority: hold back rather than chance it.
The exam trap
Where the cross comes with no flashing light and no signals, nothing warns you: the road user has to make sure themselves that no rail vehicle is coming.

The signs are the official depictions by the Federal Roads Office, from the annexes of the Signalling Ordinance (SR 741.21): official works, unprotected under Art. 5 of the Copyright Act. The explanations, by contrast, are written from federal law — never taken from a third-party catalogue.
